A revolutionary composer and guitarist, Sanderson took the sound of the Israeli army band and mashed it up with American pop and Beach Boys harmonies. His trademark humour and catchy songwriting quickly made him a favourite, while the bands he formed in the '70s and '80s are still considered paragons of pure Israeli pop. A Kaveret reunion in 1998 cemented Sanderson's status as a Hall of Famer—partly due to the 650 police needed to keep the 45,000 hysterical fans from spilling over.
