Flowing easily between dreamy K-Pop and indie-rock, the music that Annyeongbada (or Bye Bye Sea) create is exactly as wistful and nostalgic as the band's name would suggest. The South Korean group formed in Seoul's buzzing, student-centric Hongdae area in 2006, harnessing the neighbourhood's youthful energy in electro-dance cuts on early EPs. But 2009 hit "Star Shower" guided Annyeongbada toward their signature sound with its dreamy, lilting melody, shimmering "sha-la-la" background vocals and psychedelic synths. Later albums are infused with poetic, lyrical heart and a vibrant pop-rock soul.
