Texas duo Surfaces has created sharp yet playful multi-genre songs since emerging in the 2010s. Consisting of singer-guitarists Forrest Frank and Colin Padalecki, the pair arrived on the scene with its independently released 2017 effort, Surf. That album introduced the musicians to a wider audience, attracting fans with their heady blend of pop, reggae, jazz, calypso, and more. On Surface’s fourth full-length, 2021’s Pacifico, Frank and Padalecki further expanded their sound and fanbase, as they moved into hip-hop and surf music, proving themselves pop savants eager to work outside their comfort zones.
