This achievement was magnified by the fact that Etti Ankri was a female pop songwriter in an age when few existed in Israel. Her music and lyrics were influenced by her Tunisian heritage and, later, by her faith. The course of her personal life didn't hinder her success: an album dedicated to the texts of 11th century poet Rabbi Yehuda Halevi reached Gold status in 2009, reaffirming her position as a uniquely creative artist.
