Founded by Elias De Leon in Puerto Rico, the White Lion label established reggaetón in North America with its 2003 release of Tego Calderon's debut album El Abayarde. White Lion also gave birth to the socially conscious Latin urban alternative band Calle 13 and reggaetón party duo Jowell & Randy among others. Further notable releases came from Guelo Star, Cosculluela, and Tony Lenta.
