When Bob Dylan hit the stage at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival with an electric guitar and a fully amplified backing band, he made the world gasp. Dylan, the voice of his generation, had only previously performed live with little more than an acoustic guitar and a harmonica. Starting with '65's Bringing It All Back Home, his albums got more electric too, which only enhanced the impact of his poetry.
