Argentinian-born and Venezuelan-raised Ricardo Montaner began his singing career in the late '70s with the independent release of his debut album, Mares. After some local success recording the theme songs to various telenovelas, he exploded internationally in the late '80s and '90s with a string of hits. Although he is mostly known for his romantic ballads, Montaner has also recorded a pair of albums with the London Metropolitan Orchestra, released bachata and flamenco-influenced songs, and collaborated with his own children, Héctor and Alejandro Montaner.
