Part of the early wave of indie singer-songwriters on the Indian scene, Nikhil D’Souza’s reflective tales of love lost and gained helped set the groundwork for every guitar-toting troubadour that followed. His high-octave, airy vocals set him apart on his English-language songs, like the haunting, string-laden anthem “Silver and Gold”. And when he began releasing music in Hindi, it opened up his acoustic-driven sound to a whole new fanbase. But in either language, D’Souza maintains a compassionate sense of storytelling through song.
