Czech rock doesn’t get much harder than Kabát. Distorted guitars ring out, drums clatter loudly and gravel-throated vocals wail in the forefront of anthems by the veteran Teplice crew. Their chugging sound has taken them to the pinnacle of Czech alternative music—and even to the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007. Tracks like “Mala Dama”, “Dole V Dole” and live favourite “Bára” all spell out the group’s mastery of chunky power chord chaos and soaring hooks that have been impossible to resist during their many decades together.
