Coming up in the Houston hip-hop scene, Lil' Flip created a buzz with his independently released The Leprechaun project in 2000 before stepping up into the major leagues with Undaground Legend two years later. 2004's U Gotta Feel Me brought him fully into the mainstream, as he showcased his addictive flows over beats that sampled from video games and embraced candied R&B hooks. A member of the Screwed Up Click, Flip successfully returned to his indie roots towards the end of the aughts.
