Few Malaysian rockers have captured the essence of the ’90s as potently as the U.K’S. The band joined the blistering rock kapak explosion of the previous decade and by their third LP, Bisa Berbisa (1994), they had been crowned kings of their national scene. Resonant songwriting from composer Saari Amri fuels magnetic pop-rockers, synth-textured romantic ballads and acoustic guitar-laced choruses. These stirringly melodic ingredients propel such staples as “Bila Purnama Mengambang”. And it’s their arsenal of classics, alongside shimmering later releases, that keep the fire alive.
