Georgia native Trisha Yearwood established herself in Nashville by making demos and lending her powerful voice to others' albums. One of her early supporters was Garth Brooks, who had her sing on his No Borders album and helped get her signed to MCA; he also co-wrote a song for her debut. Inspired in part by divorce, her second album, 1992's Hearts in Armor, included guest vocals by Don Henley and Emmylou Harris, and spawned four hit singles. In May 2005 Brooks proposed to her onstage in Bakersfield and they were married later that year.
