A fusão de rock energético e R&B trouxe Huey Lewis & the News aos holofotes no final dos anos 1970, em São Francisco. O álbum de estreia autointitulado (1980) chamou atenção da crítica, mas o sucesso veio com Picture This (1982), especialmente com o single “Do You Believe in Love”. O álbum Sports (1983) consolidou a banda com cinco canções entre as dez mais do Billboard Hot 100, incluindo “The Heart of Rock & Roll”.
