In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I wrote a theme song for my sister's favorite rabbit doll. I was probably around 10 or 11.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Seotaiji and Boys, Seotaiji and Boys III Serge Gainsbourg, Histoire de Melody Nelson Thelonious Monk Trio, The Thelonious Monk Trio (Rudy Van Gelder Remaster) Serge Gainsbourg, Seotaiji, and Thelonious Monk are 3 of my most significant musical influences. They are all playful, clever, radical, rebellious, quirky, and structurally coherent. Difficult to choose just one album. Just picked a few of my faves.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “the DMZ Blues” The DMZ is one of the few places on earth where two polar opposites co-exist. I tried to mirror that by using chords that are contrary and opposite.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Bringing a dozen musicians to the Kennedy Center's Millennium Center to protest the genocide in Gaza, kidnapping of activists, and suppression of pro-Palestinian voices in the belly of the beast. KC tried to cancel my show because of my beliefs.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Performing at the Village Vanguard, going on a tour in South Korea, and performing in North Korea.
