Sweden's Anders Jormin is a progressive composer, double bassist, and educator in classical music and folk-influenced vanguard jazz. During the 1970s, he worked alongside bandleaders including Bobo Stenson and Don Cherry -- Jormin has hundreds of recording credits. His leader debut, Nordic Light, appeared in 1984. His octet issued 1988's Eight Pieces; 1991's Alone was a solo set; he joined Cherry on Dona Nostra in 1993, and his quartet released 1997's Once. In 2001, Jormin led a brass quartet on Xieyi, followed by 2004's In Winds, in Light with Marilyn Crispell and Lena Willemark. He issued Ad Lucem for trio and vocalists in 2012; 2013's Between Always and Never was with Willemark, an orchestra, and a choir. 2015's Trees of Light included Willemark and koto master Karin Nakagawa. 2023's Pasado en Claro reunited the trio and added drummer Jon Fält. In 2025, he was part of the co-billed collective that released Arcanum.
