The South African singer, songwriter, and runway model Ché-Lee Nel is also a model of precocity, perseverance, and determination who tries to inspire others through her uplifting pop performances. Born in Farrarmere, east of Johannesburg, in 2006, Ché lost 80 percent of her hearing at the age of three. Despite this challenge, she won talent competitions throughout elementary school, releasing her debut album, Believe, in 2017 while continuing to attend school and model. Ché subsequently added a visual component to her sound. Her video for "Vergeet (Forget)” features Ché dancing acrobatically (and engaging in a pillow fight); "Ek Like Hoe Jy Dans (I Like How You Dance),” meanwhile, features popular singer and Afrikaans rapper Snotkop as a holographic dance-floor apparition, with Ché's youthful exuberance coming through loud and clear.
