Japanese singer/songwriter Ichiko Aoba makes atmospheric folk music with intricate arrangements, primarily performed on classical guitar, and lyrics inspired by her dreams. With very little press outside of her home country, her music has attracted a devoted worldwide following, mainly due to word-of-mouth exposure on various online forums. She has released several studio albums and live recordings since her 2010 debut, from intimate acoustic folk recordings like 2013's 0 and 2018's qp to the cinematic dream pop of 2020's Windswept Adan and its sequel, 2025's Luminescent Creatures. In addition to her solo work, Aoba has collaborated with musicians such as Cornelius, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, and Kazuhisa Uchihashi, and made music for theater, advertisements, anime, and video games.
