Best known in Germany for his one-man show that pokes fun at the xenophobia of Germans toward those of Mediterranean origin, Kaya Yanar was born in Frankfurt am Main on May 10, 1973 to Turkish immigrant parents. His show, entitled Was Guckst Du?, was a hit on German television, and was released in multiple volumes on DVD. He released three CDs over the course of his career, 2001's Suchst Du?, 2003's Welttournee Durch Deutschland, and 2008's Made in Germany. His show went off the air in 2006 so that Yanar could pursue a film career. ~ Chris True
