Lino Borges was a celebrated Cuban bolero singer. By the time he turned 16 he had managed to become a professional singer for small orchestras. Over the next two decades, Borges sang with outfits such as Universal, Melena del Sur, Casablanca, Casino, Rumbavana, and especially Conjunto Saratoga, ultimately going solo in the 1960s. The success of his bolero arrangement of "Vida Consentida," originally a Venezuelan waltz by Homero Parra, allowed Borges to perform in some of the country's top nightclubs throughout the decade, as well as to make frequent radio and TV appearances. The singer would spend the rest of his life in the bolero circuit, receiving numerous honors and awards.
