Hailing from the Detroit suburb of Warren, MI, singer/songwriter Rai Knight has been on a long musical journey. Surrounded by great pop music as a kid, Knight found inspiration in the songs of the Beatles, David Bowie, and Michael Jackson, eventually learning to play guitar and piano so that she could someday make her own music. After some musical soul-searching on the West Coast and in Scotland, she returned to Detroit to make a go at a career as a solo artist. In 2010 she signed with FrontStreet Records and began exploring a more dance/R&B sound reminiscent of Gwen Stefani’s solo work. That same year, she started releasing singles as a part of the label's 52/50 singles collection. ~ Gregory Heaney
