Sarathy Korwar is a percussionist, composer, and ethnomusicologist whose sound combines East Indian classical music, jazz, hip-hop, and electronics. After studying with Pandit Sanju Sahai, he traveled to rural Gujarat and field recorded the Sidi Troupe of Ratanpur; he later added a studio session from Pune, adding jazz and electronic musicians andn it became 2016's Day to Day. His Upaj Collective -- a tentet split evenly between Indian classical and Western jazz musicians -- issued My East Is Your West. 2019's More Arriving was a collaborative soundclash wedding hip-hop, EDM, jazz, and Indian classical. Korwar and Upaj Collective released Night Dreamer: Direct-To-Disc Sessions and Kalak in 2022. He also co-founded the Flock collective with Tamar Osborn, Al MacSween, Danalogue the Conqueror, and Bex Burch. Their eponymous debut appeared in May. 2023's KAL was an improvised companion to Kalak recorded in 2020. In October 2024, Flock II appeared; it was followed in November 2025 by There Is Beauty, There Already.
