An industrial-metal band that has released seven albums, Static-X is best remembered for founder and late frontman Wayne Static.
â Before forming Static-X in 1994, Wayne Static spent the late â80s in the Chicago rock band Deep Blue Dream, alongside future Smashing Pumpkins founder Billy Corgan.
â Wisconsin Death Trip, the groupâs 1999 debut LP, reached No. 1 on Billboardâs Top Heatseekers chart before going Platinum.
â Static-Xâs breakthrough single and biggest hit, 1999âs âPush It,â popularized their self-described âevil discoâ sound.
â On the 2000 rap-metal compilation Loud Rocks, the band teamed with hip-hop duo Dead Prez for an alternate version of the latter's 1999 breakout single, âHip Hop.â
â Their Gold-certified second album, 2001âs Machine, debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and remains their highest charting release.
â After reuniting in 2018, Static-X released a comeback LP, 2020âs Project Regeneration, Vol. 1, with posthumous vocals by Wayne Static and a guest appearance by Ministryâs Al Jourgensen.
