A rich artistic legacy precedes ranchera star Ángela Aguilar’s decision to pursue music. Daughter of Grammy-winning Mexican singer Pepe Aguilar and granddaughter of iconic performer Flor Silvestre, she set out to forge her own place in her country’s sonic history—and quickly found her special place in the fluid rhythms of traditional music. Her delicate, crystalline vocals were honoured at the 2019 Grammys where she was nominated for Best Regional Mexican Music Album. At its simplest, Ángela says the mission of her music is convey Mexico’s musical roots to a new generation.
