Originating in Türkiye, Arabesque fantezi—or fantasy—folk music sprang up in the early ‘50s and ‘60s. With its distinct Arabic sound and powerful vocals, fantezi made a comeback in the early ‘80s, since evolving alongside contemporary pop. This set sees some of Türkiye's best-known singers accompanied by emotionally charged melodies from the past few decades.
