Sunnyside founder François Zalacain began by recording under-recognized greats in the jazz field. Sunnyside grew to become one of the leading independent jazz labels, presenting artists like Kirk Lightsey, Jerry Gonzalez, Luciana Souza, Guillermo Klein, Steve Kuhn, and Denny Zeitlin. Sunnyside’s staff maintains a policy of releasing music that moves them rather than focusing on more commercial interests. (From the label)
