About Milestone Records
Producer Orrin Keepnews founded Milestone in 1966, and within a few years, Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson, Gary Bartz, and McCoy Tyner had all joined the label. In 1972, Milestone became a part of Fantasy, Inc., in Berkeley, where Keepnews worked with a wide array of artists as Director of Jazz A&R. Milestone's legacy lives on with a historic roster that includes Johnny “Hammond” Smith and Joe Locke, among many others. (From the label)
