Founded in 1945 with the concept of creating a “major independent” classical record label, Vox in its early years released the first complete recordings of several well-known classical works, including Bach’s St. Matthew Passion. Vox’s roster of established artists and major orchestras created historic performances on record with repertoire ranging from medieval music through 20th-century compositions. (From the label)
