Lyrics

What fortune lies beyond stars Those dazzling heights too vast to climb I got so high to fall so far But I found Heaven as love swept low My heart beating My soul breathing I found my life when I laid it down Upward falling, spirit souring I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground. I remember that Jesus said once "What good is it if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul" But I didn't know how easy that was How quickly it would come to me, the thrones that were offered me The world had convinced me that prestige and status was What I needed in order to be worth something And I exalted it, with both of my hands I had reached for it Never stopping to realize I was worshiping it, Spending years of my life Living for the Hype, thinking it would gain me acceptance Sacrificing time with God for time for success Thinking it would all be worth it Spending my day saying if I look this way or live this way Or if people label me this way, then my life will be significant And I began to feel the rush of the love of the world It was pretty easy to achieve it. Imagine my surprise When the status quo changed, and the race hadn't ended I had been running towards an imaginary finish line A made up goal that was misleading Living to please the world was simple but simply unfulfilling Really, it will never satisfy The world well will always run dry Its standards keep changing, its beauty is fading Its measuring stick of value is bending, and ultimately It has left me empty inside. And as I sought God's face It had been a long time since I had asked Him to fill me As I slowed down my pace It had been a long time since I made Him a priority As I came back to this place It had been a long time since I listened to what He thought of me He says I am loved for who I am No matter what the world says of me He says I don't have to earn His love, He gives it to us freely He says that when we ask Him to fill us, He will satisfy us completely He says we can spend our whole lives searching the world for purpose But the place of surrender is the place where God wants us God I remember the days I used to know You so personally Speak to You so intimately, but at one point in my life I had made a trade and I gave up Your presence for my convenience Traded seeking your spirit to be more productive I gave up my first love, my best friend so I could be impressive But now I know without question Gaining the world was not worth it The price for my pride was too expensive It cost me the very essence of who You made me to be Finding rest and value in the simple fact that You created me And even knowing we would worship the things of the world And settle for man-made dreams, knowing we would worship success over Your spirit, still You sent Your Son for me In a world begging to be leaders, Jesus came to be a servant Offensive and unheard of for royalty What kind of king forfeits his Throne for a chance to wash a sinner's feet The greatest love swept so low for a chance to know you and me I am done reaching for the thrones of the world They don't amount to anything I'm done settling for this fool's gold When Jesus has given us the real thing I want to be like You, Lord, Throwing away thrones to know the true king I come back to this place, Lord, where You alone are my everything My heart beating, my soul breathing I found my life, when I laid it down Upward falling, spirit souring I touch the sky, when my knees hit the ground. I remember that Moses said once God, if You do not personally go With us, do not lead us up from this place So now on my face, this is my prayer today I see all the thrones, all the places I could go Paths for my life the world deems attractive But if You don't go with me personally, I don't want it If Your presence doesn't come with me, I don't need it If I don't have the discipline to Stop and remember it is all about You Then all the world's riches, please take me far from it I see success at my doorstep, I see the world loving what has become of me Nobody Says how easy it would be to gain the whole world and How having a healthy soul didn't come easily But God, now it is clear to me Resting in Your presence is where I find my identity There is no value in any of this if You are not near to me If I am not on my knees, if I am not in Your word If I am not listening to Your tugging on my heart Then I am not where I need to be If I am not where You are I want to be close to You, I want to be drowned in You I want to be filled with the freedom only found in You I want to grasp every part of You, I want to know how to be like You More than anything, I want to fall more deeply in love with You So find me here at Your feet again, Everything I am, reaching out I surrender No throne, no kingdom is better than in You being found So to touch the sky, my knees hit the ground Find me here at Your feet again Everything I am, reaching out I surrender Come sweep me up in Your love again And my soul will dance on the wings of forever. Find me here at Your feet again Everything I am, reaching out I surrender Come sweep me up in Your love again And my soul will dance on the wings of forever. My heart beating (finally my heart beating) My soul breathing (finally my soul breathing) I found my life (to find You) When I laid it down (when I lay it all down) Upward falling (falling more in love with You) Spirit souring (my spirit finds rest in You) I touch the sky (Reaching towards You) When my knees hit the ground (my knees hit the ground) My heart beating (finally my heart beating) My soul breathing (finally my soul breathing) I found my life (to find You) When I laid it down (when I lay it all down) Upward falling (falling more in love with You) Spirit souring (my spirit finds rest in You) I touch the sky (Reaching towards You) When my knees hit the ground (my knees hit the ground) Find me here at Your feet again Everything I am, reaching out I surrender Come sweep me up in your love again And my soul will dance on the wings of forever Upward falling (falling more in love with You) Spirit souring (my spirit finds rest in You) I touch the sky (Reaching towards You) When my knees hit the ground (my knees hit the ground)
