Oh no please say it ain’t so

The limelight draws a new leader of the pack

Who thinks the way forward lies through looking back

But the shimmer of nostalgia is a powerful trap

The woes of yesteryear just slip through the crack

This is not a time to get emotional

I don’t want to get too political

Every season has a new scapegoat

Because it’s easier for someone else to carry the load

But it’s a known fact it ain’t good for the soul

To live in a bubble and think one is the whole

Disparity continues to grow

Even though it’s wide than it’s ever been before

Sometimes it’s hard not to be cynical

I don’t want get too political

I don’t want to be a part of it
