It’s well past time that I put down a shovel there’s a lot of better ways to make a living with these hands

What I ain’t caught up in hock I borrowed from a buddy and I sold a little pot now I’m driving all over in a little bitty Nissan van.

And I ain’t got a lot to show for chasing rainbows but I heard that highway’s got one at both ends

I got me a cot in the back and a couple of 12 inch speakers a Mississippi Marshall and a little blue clip on fan and there’s just enough room for me a tele and a D-18 to get on to Arizona just as fast as I can

We’ve been pinching pennies so hard that they’re squealing sometimes we’re behind on meeting ends
