In June of 69 the army corps of engineers

Dropped several tons of rocks between Goat Island and the Falls

That water had been flowing for at least 12,000 years

But to keep it going longer first the river must be stalled

After the falls were stopped and there was nothing much to see

Tourists kept lining up to look at what had disappeared

And hunt for things thrown in the falls for luck or secrecy

A million coins all marking unknown wishes over years

They also solved a murder and a separate suicide

When two skeletons were found lying in the rocks below

The falls' grandeur guaranteed and their future fortified

After five weeks of dryness the army let the water flow
