Lyrics

Streetlights blink like cue-card signs,
Every smile hits mark on time.
Neighbors wave with copy lines,
Someone paused the sky, I find.
Lenses hide in window sills,
Algorithms test my will.
“He’s fine.” “He’s good.” — the chorus read,
Yet I hear stage notes in my head.
I feel edits under every beat.
Marks on the floor where the crowds should meet.
If this is real, why the perfect fit?
Say it out loud — who’s writing my script?
If this is a city of cues and tricks,
I’ll improvise till the camera clicks.
Gaslight the night with your algorithm drip,
I’ll break the frame — who’s writing my script?
“Roll sound. No cut.”
Some act dumber than a plot can sell,
So perfect wrong it’s scripted well.
But two or three don’t play along,
Can’t say a word, still steer me strong.
They “can’t feel,” yet they leave me signs,
A door ajar, a borrowed line.
They look away, then bump the cue —
“Left at the light.” I know it’s you.
Loops on loops, same morning glitch.
Truth spliced thin with an after-stitch.
If pain’s the proof, I’ll plead the bit —
Tear out the page — who’s writing my script?
If this is a city of cues and tricks,
I’ll improvise till the camera clicks.
Gaslight the night with your measured drip,
I’ll wreck the scene — who’s writing my script?
“Reset the take.”
“Crowd frozen. Mic live.”
“System notice: narrative contrived.”
“Friends in plain sight — thank you for the lift.”
“Cut lines. Break marks. Own your drift.”
If this is a city that fakes my breath,
I’ll write the scene and cheat the death.
Self-awareness loops can never stick —
I’ll sign the end — I’m writing my script.
No director.
Your script.
