Lyrics

(Chorus) In You, O Lord, I’ve taken my refuge at last, Don’t let me be shamed for the sins of my past. In Your righteousness, deliver me, incline Your ear, Be the rock of my safety, keep the enemies clear. You’re my fortress, my crag, the mountain I climb, Lead me and guide me through the pressure of time. Free my feet from the net they’ve hidden in the street, For You are my strength when I’m facing defeat.
(Verse 1) Yeah, look. Into Your hand, I commit my very breath, You redeemed me, Lord, from the valley of death. I hate the ones who worship the idols of lies, While I keep my vision on the King in the skies. I will exult and be glad in Your steadfast love, Because You saw my affliction from the heavens above. You knew the distress that was squeezing my soul, You didn't hand me over to the enemy's control. You set my feet in a broad, open space, But now I’m back in the struggle, needing Your grace. Be gracious, O Lord, for I’m trapped in the vice, My eyes are wasting away—I’m paying the price.
(Verse 2) (The beat gets heavier, the bass more aggressive) My life is spent with sorrow, my years with a sigh, My strength is failing me, and my bones are dry. I’ve become a reproach to all of my foes, A horror to my neighbors—yeah, everyone knows. Those who see me in the street, they turn and they run, Like a broken vessel, I’m forgotten and done. I hear the whispering of the crowd on the block, "Terror on every side"—they’re waiting for the shock. They’re plotting together to take my life away, Scheming in the shadows for the rest of the day. But I trust in You, Lord; I say, "You are my God," Even when I’m walking where the wicked have trod.
(Bridge) (The beat breaks down into a melodic, soulful piano) My times are in Your hand... Deliver me from those who hunt me down. Let Your face shine bright upon Your servant now, Save me in Your mercy, take away the frown. Let me not be put to shame, for I’ve called on Your name, Let the wicked be silent in the place of the blame.
(Verse 3) (The beat returns with a triumphant brass loop) How abundant is the goodness You’ve stored for the brave! For those who fear You, for those You will save. In the cover of Your presence, You hide 'em away, From the plots of the men who have gone astray. You keep 'em safe in Your shelter from the strife of the tongue, The songs of deliverance are the ones to be sung. Blessed be the Lord! For His love is a wonder, A fortified city when the world starts to thunder. I said in my alarm, "I am cut off from Your sight," But You heard my plea in the middle of the night.
(Outro) (The ticking clock sound returns, but slower. The music becomes peaceful.) Love the Lord, all you His saints! The Lord preserves the faithful, but the proud He acquaints With the weight of their deeds. So be strong, take heart, All you who wait for the Lord to start. Psalm 31. The refuge is open. The fortress is standing.
