Accompanied by well-practiced sidemen like Larry Grenadier and drummer Ulysses Owens Jr, the 11-year-old Bali-born piano prodigy displays talent far beyond his years on his standards-packed debut. While he shows remarkable depth of feeling during the gorgeous ballad "Lush Life,” Alexander’s solo on John Coltrane's harmonically challenging "Giant Steps" is relaxed yet inventive.
