While unbridled rockers like “Love In an Elevator” match their sleazy glories of yesteryear, Pump has a serious side, too. In “Janie’s Got a Gun,” a girl’s sexual abuse culminates in an act of revenge. Throughout “Monkey on My Back,” Steven Tyler rails against the substances that nearly ruined his band. Thankfully, this sober, slightly more thoughtful Aerosmith was as exciting as the earlier model.
