Två Sidor Av Horisonten
Album - Rock, Music, Metal
Much like Graveyard and Witchcraft, Horisont are a Swedish band that excels at recreating the heavy proto-metal sound similar to late 1960s and early 1970s recordings by Black Sabbath and Blue Cheer. But unlike Horisont’s contemporaries, the quintet also specializes in blasting a bellbottomed strut rooted in bygone British blues-rock akin to Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac and The Groundhogs. Their 2009 debut album Tva Sidor Av Horisonten opens with Thin Lizzy-inspired guitar harmonies as singer Axel Söderberg croons high-register wails reminiscent of a young Robert Plant. By the third song “High Time” (which plays like a tougher Wolfmother), it’s obvious that, aside from being stellar musicians with superb taste in vintage gear, these guys are also master tunesmiths. There’s not one unmemorable song here. With classic toned fuzz-guitar leads, “The Unseen” sounds straight out of 1969’s ballroom era rock concerts as does closing song “Efter Min Pipa.”
