Considered Cantopop’s most influential band, Beyond is often referred to as Hong Kong’s Beatles.
∙ In 1989, Beyond became the first Hong Kong band to perform in Beijing, at the Capital Indoor Stadium.
∙ Their 1990 album, Party of Fate, went triple-Platinum and featured the hit single “Glorious Years,” which addressed South African apartheid and the struggle of Nelson Mandela.
∙ The band provided Cantonese voiceovers for the shelled superheroes in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze.
∙ Their signature song, “Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies,” is considered the unofficial anthem of the Hong Kong people.
