In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
I remember getting my first drum set as a birthday present at age 4. I had been beating on tables for years, and I was finally able to play the real thing. It was like my dreams had come true.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Bruce Springsteen, Born to Run
The Gaslight Anthem, The '59 Sound
The Killers, Pressure Machine
There is a certain vibe about music that I love. It's a real hopeful, unwavering, full of life sound that I think only comes across in certain artists. I try to achieve the same uplifting sound in my own music.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Soul”
This was my first attempt at writing a love song about mental illness. One of the reasons I love music is that it is constantly evolving. This song was my way of creating something that I felt hadn't really been done before.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
There's nothing better than performing for people and connecting with them through music. I get to play live, get off stage and talk to people who have truly connected with something I've sang or played. I'm glad I'll be able to keep reliving that.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
One of my long-term goals is to fill the Rebecca Cohn theatre in Halifax. If I can play on a stage where one of my musical heroes Joel Plaskett performed, I will truly know that I've reached a higher level.
