For Lovers Only hakkında
Sanatçı Biyografisi
For Lovers Only enjoyed a brief stint on Motown Records from 1994-1995. Championed by the Temptations' Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin, they had one LP and two singles released. The members were Terry Wayne Weeks from Birmingham, AL; Defrantz E. Forrest from South Bend, IN; and Michael Wayne Dickerson, origin unknown. Forrest grew up in a musical family -- his stepfather was the late Fred Lee Davis, an entertainer who sang with many South Bend groups and later with the male chorus at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church; Forrest's biological father is Gene "Duke of Earl" Chandler. Motown unleashed two singles from the album: Mtume and Lucas' "The Closer I Get to You," and "Nasty Groove," written by Otis Williams, Dennis Nelson, and Tony Haynes. Neither the singles nor the album did much business, and the group disbanded. In 1997, Weeks replaced Ali Ollie Woodson in the Temptations, singing alongside Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Barrington "Bo" Henderson (Dramatics and Lakeside), and Henry McGilberry (the Futures). Forrest later sang with Sly, Slick, & Wicked, the Cleveland group that relocated to L.A. (not the L.A.-based SSW who recorded for Bad Boys Records). ~ Andrew Hamilton
