Sacrosanct is a German-Dutch progressive thrash metal outfit founded in 1988 by former Pestilence guitarist Randy Meinhard. The band's aggressive style and dueling guitar harmonies evoke Slayer and Iron Maiden, respectively, and spawned three acclaimed tech-thrash-leaning studio albums: Truth Is - What Is (1990), Recesses for the Depraved (1991), and Tragic Intense (1993). Label woes, personnel changes, and creative burnout resulted in the group ceasing operations in 1994. After a 25-year hiatus, Meinhard pieced together a new iteration of the band. Using thrash as a retaining wall, Sacrosanct added more progressive elements to their oeuvre, pairing the neck-snapping riffage of the past with melancholic melodies and introspective lyrics, as heard on assured efforts like Necropolis (2018) and Kidron (2025).
