Country music parodists, Homer and Jethro, found success with a series of comedy remakes of chart hits, notably "Hart Brake Motel," "The Ballad of Davy Crew-Cut," and "How Much is That Hound Dog in the Window." Proving that no song was safe, they had their last chart entry in 1964 with a version of the Beatles’ "I Want to Hold Your Hand." While their comedy sometimes overshadowed the fact that they were fine musicians, in 1970 they recorded with Chet Atkins (Jethro’s brother-in-law) as the Nashville String Band. But it wasn’t until the album charted that RCA revealed the identities of the musicians. The duo was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
