Self-proclaimed as "the people's rapper," Flint, Michigan native Jon Connor is a blue-collar MC and producer whose verses are packed with incisive, no-nonsense wordplay. Connor had been grinding underground for over a decade when, in 2013, he went nationwide with Unconscious State, his charting debut album, and shortly thereafter took part in a BET Hip Hop Awards cypher and was named to XXL magazine's 2014 Freshman Class. Connor appeared on Dr. Dre's Compton the following year and was set to issue an album on the producer's Aftermath label, but after the release of a promotional single, it was shelved. Connor relaunched his All Varsity label, and his subsequent projects -- from 2020's SOS to 2025's Food for the Soul -- have seen him center philosophical and outward-looking lyrical themes with reliably intense conviction.
