Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
My earliest musical memories were shaped by Bembeya Jazz National, Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Alpha Blondy, Kassav’, Zouk Machine, Celia Cruz, Salif Keita, Boncana Maiga, Oumou Sangaré, Miriam Makeba, Johnny Clegg and the rich sounds of world music.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
2Pac, All Eyez On Me
Dr. Dre, 2001
LINKIN PARK, Hybrid Theory (Deluxe Edition)
I chose these because I can play each one front to back without skipping a track. 2Pac is my all-time favorite artist, Dre my favorite producer, 2001 introduced me to Eminem, and Hybrid Theory got me through college and opened the door to nu-metal.

“A Jersey Tale”
I chose “A Jersey Tale” because it captures one of the hardest chapters of my life—fighting to make it into university in New Jersey while learning English and finding my way. It reminds me how far I’ve come and what perseverance can overcome.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
One of my most memorable moments was performing “Through It All” and “La survie des plus forts” at a West African community gathering. The kids danced around me as I performed, and afterward we all celebrated together in a circle.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
I’d love to profoundly reach and touch larger audiences, collaborate with artists from different cultures and genres, and create a body of work my children can be proud of. More than anything, I want a better world for all of us.
