Just when you think you have Carlos Santana's sound nailed, he'll surprise you with a new twist. As far back as 1969's “Shades of Time,” his band was melding Latin percussion with soul vocals and blues-rock experimentation. Later he sparred with Eric Clapton on the shape-shifting “The Calling,” while on “Dar um Jeito (We Will Find a Way)” he helped soundtrack the 2014 World Cup by crowning Avicii's thumping beat with stinging, celebratory solos.
