London hard rockers Thunder tap their blues (and blue-collar) roots. A few rhythm sections came and went since the band's initial run—spanning the '90s while doggedly avoiding grunge—but Thunder's no-nonsense heft comes down to frontman Danny Bowes and guitarist/songwriter Luke Morley (formerly paired in '80s stalwarts Terraplane). With Bowes' grizzled wail and Morley's guitar licks to rival AC/DC, Thunder have amassed over two dozen live albums and—despite their heavy leanings—consistently nail the ballads too.
