The story of The Libertines is all about the ongoing love-hate relationship between the group's co-frontmen Carl Barât and Pete Doherty. Formed in London in 1997, they shot to stardom with 2002's Up the Bracket, a project that consisted of an energized set of garage punk songs that recalled icons like the Ramones. Unfortunately, with success came issues of drug use and personal strife, with Doherty infamously breaking into Barât's apartment—a move that saw him sentenced to a stint in prison.
