English folk singer Nick Drake falls into the category of influential artists whose work was unfortunately underappreciated when it was first released. Putting out three albums of deeply affecting songs from 1969 to 1972 that explored his personal demons, Drake failed to find critical or commercial success before his death in 1974. Discovered posthumously by a bevy of artists, Drake's story and work found notoriety in the ‘90s before going on to be used in hit films like 2001's The Royal Tenenbaums and 2004's Garden State.
