Brooklyn singer-songwriter Edward Droste started Grizzly Bear as a offhand DIY solo project. But following the release of 2004's Horn of Plenty, Droste expanded it into a full band, adding drummer Christopher Bear, bassist Chris Taylor, and guitarist-singer Daniel Rossen to create a harmony-driven blend of modern electronics and '60s-style chamber pop. 2006's Yellow House and 2009's expansive Veckatimest brought the band from cult acclaim to the front line of the '10s indie scene. Fourth album Shields brought a new collaborative spirit to the band.
