Baauer captivated the world with his 2012 single “Harlem Shake,” delivering a drop so rowdy that it spawned a viral internet phenomenon and, with its Billboard chart–topping debut, the idea that memes could make hits. The electronic producer (born Harry Bauer Rodrigues in 1989) has since shown himself to be sonically versatile, warping genres like hip-hop, R&B, trap, and Baltimore club on his first album, 2016’s Aa, while also collaborating with rap heavyweights Pusha T and Future, K-pop star G-Dragon, and English singer-songwriter Tirzah. Baauer’s ability to pump out speaker-rattling bass behemoths like 2020’s “AETHER” as easily as he can house euphoria à la 2022’s “Let Me Love U” reveals an artist in a state of constant reinvention.
