Rotterdam-based Iranian artist Sevda Alizadeh aka Sevdaliza bends and twists a variety of sounds to form her unique brand of electronic music. Since 2015, she has taken from R&B, trip hop, pop and avant-garde sounds while using different languages like English, Portuguese and her native Farsi. Songs such as “Human” and “Marilyn Monroe” deliver strong messages on empowerment, identity, healing and self-love through subtle minor-chord melodies, detuned stabs and sparse beats that enhance her deep, lush, often distorted vocals.
